Contact Student Services to access the following specialized workshops, free of charge. Interactive activities have been developed to peek the interest of students exploring their career options. Each workshop has been created with the Career Curriculum in mind, and provides students with a fun way to learn more about the world of work.

We also offer one-on-one assistance for students in order to target individual needs.

Specialized Workshops

Apprenticeship
This workshop was created by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities. It provides students with a better understanding of what apprenticeships are, and identifies different types of trades. Participants will be provided with information on some of the programs available to help apprentices, and be able to identify some of the benefits.

Future Trends
Where will the jobs be in 2020? The Future Trends workshop helps students understand the changing needs of society and how it affects future jobs. Knowing about the current trends will help students make better career decisions.

Interview Skills
Interviews can be tricky business, and should not be taken lightly. Students will learn how to interview effectively by being able to identify commonly asked questions and appropriate responses. This workshop will teach them that preparing for an interview is half the battle, and they will have an opportunity to “practice” what we teach!

Orientation to the Workplace
When a student is about to start working, it is important for them to understand the workplace. This workshop covers everything from making a good first impression to workplace health and safety. Students have an opportunity to share their own experiences, while discussing a variety of topics related to workplace conventions.

Job Search/Resume
Students will learn how to land the job they want. That means learning effective job search techniques, as well as identifying employer needs and personal skills. Participants will be provided with tips to create a DYNAMIC resume, and an ATTENTION getting cover letter. By the end of this workshop, students will know how to “WOW” a potential employer.
